GODSMACK Frontman Interviewed On 93X's 'Half-Assed Morning Show' (Audio)
March 4, 2011GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna was interviewed on the March 1, 2011 edition of the "Half-Assed Morning Show" on the 93X radio station. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.
Erna is planning his debut solo tour late spring/early summer. The singer will play about three weeks of dates in small, intimate venues to support his first solo disc, "Avalon". Erna told The Pulse Of Radio that he wants to make sure that people know the difference between his solo work and GODSMACK. "It really is a separate band," he said. "I mean, I think people need to understand that Sully Erna is more of a brand name than it is my name when it comes to this solo project. It's always gonna be completely separate from GODSMACK. It has no business being in the same area as GODSMACK because it doesn't compete with it. It's a whole different genre of music."
"Avalon" came out on September 14, 2010 and is very different from GODSMACK's catalog. It features flutes, cellos, hand drums and other exotic instrumentation, along with female vocals.
Erna emphasized that "Avalon" was "not a rock record" in several online posts and interviews.
The singer hopes to take out the same six or seven musicians who worked with him on the record to recreate it on the road.
GODSMACK's latest effort, "The Oracle", came out last year. The latest single was "Love Hate Sex Pain".
